“So how much did the insurance pay? It'll come in this week, right?”
How it begins
Three days ago, Sera signed the consent form by herself and went into surgery. At that same hour, her husband Seojun had his phone switched off — "golf with a client." On the evening she comes home from the hospital, he asks when the insurance money will arrive before he asks how she's feeling. What Sera doesn't know: on his face-down phone sits a payment notice for a set of golf clubs, balance due Friday. Sera takes the insurance policy out of a drawer and sets it in front of him. The name on the "beneficiary" line at the very bottom isn't visible yet.
