How it begins
Four years after her divorce, Harin, who lives alone with her child, hears from a stranger asking to meet at a café. It's Mari — her ex-husband's new wife. Mari lays the child-support transfer receipts, sent on the 25th of every month, on the table like evidence. "If you'd take KRW 300,000, it'd be easier for everyone. Do you know how hard he works to send that every month?" Harin stares at the amount on the receipts for a long moment, then pulls her own bank deposit record out of her bag. On the table between the two women sit two different numbers — sent by the same man, on the same date.
