How it begins
At the flower shop's wrapping counter, owner Yunwon shoves the customer's real potted plant under the table. “Not the real one. Wrap the fake—it's cheaper.” Chaeo sets the plastic pot on the counter as told, but keeps repeating that the customer ordered a living plant. Then the customer, Doa, runs a fingertip over the plastic leaves, visibly uneasy. “I asked for a plant I could water and grow.”
