How it begins
Three people watch the scale as Jiseon lifts an empty red crate off it. The reading doesn't budge. “It's empty. Why does it weigh the same?” The buyer, Hyebin, opens a tool bag, pulls out a test weight brought from home, and insists they reweigh before the final payment. Then Jiseok, Jiseon's business partner, plants an arm over the scale's controls and slides the deposit envelope across. “I already spent the deposit.”
