Step Off the Square, and the Ceiling Comes Down
Opening scene
“Just stand there for a day. I'll bring the next guest.”
How it begins
Iju, a short-term tenant, steps one foot out of a white square with her bag—and the ceiling drops toward her head. Her landlord Sangchan shoves her back inside the square, and the ceiling stops. He opens the door and says, “Just stand there for a day. I'll bring the next guest.” Iju bolts for the door, and the ceiling sinks lower, crushing the top of the exit. In this room, the ceiling only holds while at least one person stands inside the white square. Sebi reaches out from under the stairs, but Sangchan says that if she's pulled out, no one will be left to hold up the room.
The rest, we'll show you once it's made.
If everyone lives only while she stands there—and the landlord walks free—how does she switch places?
